Nine Questions

Oscar Acedo is a Tucson native who comes from a large family of music enthusiasts. He plays bass for local hard-core band GAT-ROT and is a proud father of one Alex Sixx. Acedo enjoys riding his Harley, shooting pool and hearing live music. To play the bills, Acedo is a division manager at Tucson Decorator Center. Catch GAT-ROT along with F.D.P., the Sindicate and Brute Squad this Saturday, Sept. 6, at Vaudeville Cabaret. Visit the GAT-ROT MySpace site for more information.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica at the Tucson Convention Center, 1986.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Incubus, Morning View; Mötley Crüe, Girls Girls Girls; Amy Winehouse, Back to Black; Eazy E, Eazy-Duz-It; Steely Dan, Greatest Hits; Ozomatli, Ozomatli.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Roughly 300 CDs, five albums and 40 to 50 cassettes.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

No illegal downloads. I'm almost done loading all of my CDs into iTunes.

What was the first album you owned?

Kiss, Alive!

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

Primus, "My Name Is Mud"--for obvious reasons!

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I am a huge fan of Motown music! For my birthday a couple of years back, I got me a three-disc set. James Jamerson definitely expanded the role of the bass guitar in popular music.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

The Beatles. I thought it was the coolest thing that my dad knew how to play their songs. Blew my mind! Once, my dad got to me to play the guitar right-handed instead of left--and I never stopped.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Hatebreed, Satisfaction Is the Death of Desire. Great road music always starts a (mosh) pit in the van when we are on the road--I'm glad I'm usually driving!
