Nine Questions

Stacey Bailey is a former Navy brat who works as one-third of the Club Congress booking trifecta. She is currently helping plan the Friday, Oct. 10, "Dub Crawl"--the electronic music answer to Club CrawlTM. "I love dancing and getting fools to dance more than anything," Bailey says. Read the extended version on tammies.com.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

Pops took me to see Chet Atkins when I was 7. (Pops) lost 65 percent of his hearing in the Vietnam War, and as a result, we never had much music playing in our house. That he wanted to see that show meant a lot to me. He brought binoculars so we could watch Chet's hands.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

El Olio Wolof, A Tedious Task, is in my car, Audion and Jon Gaiser on the turntables.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Crates upon crates of vinyl, seven big boxes of CDs and three big boxes of cassettes. Thousands?

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

Yes, legally, for work all the time. I want people to make money from doing what they love, so I'm not really into illegal downloading.

What was the first album you owned?

Mickey Mouse Disco, and I'm forever imprinted.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

Jeffrey Lewis, "Had It All," and Belle and Sebastian, "Sleep the Clock Around," followed by a dance party with bangin' techy house mixed live by my best friend.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I have no guilt about how many times I've played the videos for Chingo Bling's "Taco Shop" or Johnny Prez's "Tu Pum Pum" in the Congress Inner Sanctum.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Olivia Tremor Control. They were absolutely in love with sound from all sources.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Negativland's U2 EP. It's a record that involved a little band and a big band; it raised important questions about art and ownership and became more than just itself. Mediagasm.
