Bread at the Tucson Convention Center with my dad. I was 11.

Kill Rock Stars compilation The Sound the Hare Heard; Jon Rauhouse, Steel Guitar Heart Attack; M. Ward, Duet for Guitars #2; Leila Lopez, The Roots and the Crops; Andrew Bird and the Mysterious Production of Eggs; and Califone, Heron King Blues.
How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?
Forty-four feet of CDs, 8 feet of vinyl, 100 or so cassettes.
Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?
No; probably because I've never tried. I'm kind of a Luddite.
What was the first album you owned?
It was either Jesus Christ Superstar or Carpenters. I still have the JCS, but not the Carpenters. It probably ended up in Al Perry's collection.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
One that inspires folks to smile and jump around a bit, even the nondancers. I've got it! "Get to Leave" from Howe Gelb's 'Sno Angel Like You.
Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?
My friends know about my penchant for Broadway musicals, so possibly really old Elton John stuff, before Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I haven't listened to them in years, but if I happened to hear it somewhere, I'm sure I couldn't help singing all the words.
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
Mazzy Star, She Hangs Brightly. I met my sister for the first time when I was 28; she was 15. She gave me this album very soon after our meeting, and it has remained one of my favorites to this day, as has she.
Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?
Aarrgggh. Don't do this to me. First one (of many) to mind: Neil Young, Rust Never Sleeps.
