Nine Questions

UA law school grad Lisa Wagenheim has had a good December: She celebrated her birthday, got a job at the UA law library and became a member of the bar association (despite the fact that she took the bar exam four years ago). Her goal for 2005 is to trade legal services for drum lessons. What was the first concert you ever saw?

Barry Manilow at the Spectrum in Philly, '78 ... with my dad. I took Barry's shiny full-body concert photo to show-and-tell the following week.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Wilco, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot; Papas Fritas, Papas Fritas; Modest Mouse, The Lonesome Crowded West.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Best guess is 300 or so. I may not have an exact figure, but I can promise they are alphabetized.

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

Nah.

What was the first album you owned?

Free to Be You and Me, a classic.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

Song 1, 6, 7 or 12 from Having a Party With Jonathan Richman or "Please Don't Bury Me," by John Prine.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

Any song where the focal point is someone shakin' their ass. Actually, it seems to be Barry Manilow.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Sam Cooke. Listening to him has always made me dream about being blown away in a smoky, Harlem night club at four in the morning back in 1963.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Never ask an indecisive procrastinator a question like this ... or she may never get to sleep.
