What was the first concert you ever saw?
Huey Lewis. I was maybe 8 years old. There was a fight in the crowd. It was pretty rowdy and awesome. I'm still a fan to this day. My first "real" concert was Jesus Chrysler Supercar. Remember those guys?
What are you listening to these days?
A mishmash of everything from Neil Diamond to Neutral Milk Hotel to Girl Talk. With my son, I like to dance-party to the singles from pop stars who guest on Sesame Street. We YouTube those all the time. Like, Feist's "1234" is really, really good.
What was the first album you owned?
I can't lie. It was a Bruce Willis album, covering songs like "Under the Boardwalk." I bought it with my own money and played it until the cassette tape snapped.
What artist, genre or musical trend does everyone seem to love, but you just don't get?
Glee. The show, the soundtracks—I'm just not hip to any of it.
What musical act, current or defunct, would you most like to see perform live?
Janis Joplin would be a thrill.
Musically speaking, what is your favorite guilty pleasure?
If I'm driving in the evening, I always tune in to Delilah. So, whatever she's spinning while dishing out love advice. I'm not proud, but I love it, and there it is.
What song would you like to have played at your funeral?
You should totally ask Delilah. She would come up with the perfect song.
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
Propagandhi, way back when, opened my mind to ideas outside of my own family and got me going to shows, meeting different kinds of people, using foul language—all that good stuff.
Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?
Pearl Jam, Vs., has seen me through times both good and bad.
