What was the first concert you ever saw?
Three Dog Night in 1971 at the Hollywood Sportatorium. I saw Aerosmith and Skynyrd in the same gigantic hangar, no amenities.

You mean in my iPod? Delerium's Chimera, Beck's Midnite Vultures, Crystal Method's Legion of Boom, Smashing Pumpkins' Pisces Iscariot, most of the Future Sound of London .
How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?
Probably 600 on CD and a few hundred more on vintage vinyl, (with) lots of great compilations rusting away on cassette.
Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?
Yes, legally. Getting musicians and artists paid is important to me. It's the reason I built tucsonunderground.com--to give good people a start at online exposure, which was simply not an option for musicians not too long ago.
What was the first album you owned?
Bought two together: The Partridge Family Album and The Fifth Dimension's Age of Aquarius. Big day for me.

"How Soon Is Now" by The Smiths, followed by Paul Oakenfold's "Starry Eyed Surprise."
Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?
Art rock from about 1969 to 1973--Pink Floyd, ELO, Roxy Music, Bowie, real Genesis. There is something majestic that is expressed by something like the closing of Selling England by the Pound. I love tracing the original sound innovations to the present.
What band or artist changed your life, and how?
Chrissie Hynde showed me that women could be audacious and angry and rock harder than the guys.
Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?
A three-way tie between Crystal Method's Vegas, Pink Floyd's Meddle and Screaming Trees' Dusk.
