Andrea Ferro

Andrea Ferro is the male, co-leader singer of the Italian goth-metal group Lacuna Coil (along with Cristina Scabbia, interviewed here last week). A huge Alice in Chains fan, Andrea had the pleasure of meeting the late Layne Staley's mother while on tour in Seattle. While touring America, Andrea loves to down strawberry milkshakes and attack the late-night munchies at Denny's.

What was the first concert you ever saw?

I saw Primus at a club called Garage 2001 in Milan. I think it was during their first album.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Type O Negative, Life Is Killing Me; Metallica, Ride the Lightning; The Ramones, Loud, Fast Ramones: Their Toughest Hits; The Cult, Pure Cult.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

300 CDs and 200 cassettes.

Do you download music, and if so, legally?

No, because I don't have an Internet connection in Italy.

What was the first album you owned?

AC/DC, Let There Be Rock.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

"Down in a Hole" or "Rain When I Die," by Alice in Chains.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What are your guilty pleasures?

Some gangsta rap and Italian folk music.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

Metal music in general changed my life. It's a lifestyle (being into metal), and it has an impact on how you chose to live and approach things.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Alice in Chains, Dirt and Type O Negative, Bloody Kisses.
