In cities around the world puppets seem to be making a comeback. In France puppets make regular appearances on the evening news to help attract viewers. In Hong Kong public television is sporting children's puppet shows à la Sesame Street with government-sponsored grants. Some people believe that a puppet revolution is overcoming our humble land, and most of these guys are housed in the Tucson Puppet Works studio in the heart of downtown.
The Old Pueblo's own puppeteers hold regular puppet church each Sunday afternoon at 3, where a variety of hand, rod and shadow puppets play host to moral tales from around the world. This ever-growing performance is increasingly popular with both adults and children, and with a different show each week, you are guaranteed fresh entertainment upon your return.
Puppet Works also holds shows on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and seasonal performances on Friday and Saturday evenings. The studio and gallery are located directly across Congress from the Grill. Gallery hours are 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and Downtown Saturday Nights.
