Minimania

Minimania occurs when the individual's normal sense of well-being is skewed to a level of hyper-awareness, either by a threat to his/her environment (such as the switching off of a television set), or a euphoric overstimulation (as may occur during a visit to Toys 'R' Us or Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza-Time Theater; see page 84).

Like chickenpox, the "disease" poses little threat to the healthy child. There is, however, insufficient clinical evidence on which to base conclusions about the condition's long-term effects, as parents rarely have their children diagnosed until they are well into their 30s and still living at home. By that time, it is too far advanced to treat effectively.

(Special note: Pokemon commercials broadcast on Japanese television have been known to cause seizures in children exhibiting symptoms of minimania.)
