Fun-fact time: Did you know that Tucson is actually a hub for alternative-newsweekly Web publishing?
It's true. Located in a nondescript business center off Tucson Boulevard is the company DesertNet; about three- dozen alternative newsweeklies use their software/Web publishing platforms—including, of course, the Tucson Weekly.
The Weekly actually has been with DesertNet since 1995. (Back then, there was some sort of ownership connection, but there isn't today.) We've been a DesertNet client for 17-plus years for two reasons: We like to support fellow local businesses as much as possible; and, most importantly, DesertNet does great stuff.
I mention all of this because DesertNet just went and did some more great stuff—specifically, they launched the Weekly's new mobile website last week.
I strongly encourage you to grab your smartphone and head to m.tucsonweekly.com. Mark my words: You'll find one of the best newspaper mobile websites you've ever seen.
