Our picks for the week include a play about jaguars

Latina Dance Project presents "Jaguar!"

Featuring an amazing cast of local actors and dancers and directed by Eva Tessler, this play continues through Sept. 21 at Zuzi's Theater at the Historic Y, 738 N. Fifth Ave. Written by Dawn Costello Sellers, "Jaguar!" is inspired by the untimely death of Macho B in 2009, at that time, Arizona's last known jaguar. According to the project, the play focuses on Maya, a young girl who grabs at everything she sees—lizards, fish and Pygmy owls. She dreams of catching a jaguar and the Moon struggles to show her the importance of leaving what's wild well enough alone. Tickets are $20 general admission. For reservations, call 237-0926.
