Cheap Thrills

NOWEL SYNG WE. No, my hand didn't slip on the keyboard.

Music Sonora, an a cappella vocal ensemble directed by Christina Jarvis, performs a program of early Christmas music on Friday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. The concert includes Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music as well as later carols by composers Guerrero, de Cristo, Hassler, Holst, Walther and others.

The concert takes place at Grace St. Paul's Church, 2331 E. Adams near Speedway and Tucson. Suggested donation is $8. Call for more information at 628-8119.

GREAT ANIMAL RESCUES. The Quest to Conquer Karkadaan is an interactive, fantasy adventure for the whole family. You get to explore a wintry forest maze filled with monsters and magic as you attempt to free cats and dogs imprisoned by the sorceress' evil spell.

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona has teamed up with Funtasticks Family Fun Park for this two-day maze along with CD City, Pantano Animal Clinic and others. Come down to Funtasticks on Friday, December 13, from 4 to 9:30 p.m. or Saturday, December 14, from noon to 7:30 p.m. The park is located just east of the Tucson Mall at 221 E. Wetmore Road. Call 888-5203 for details.

GUITAR ZOO. Meet a flue, hold a bow, pluck a string, slide a trombone. Come to Bookman's on Grant at 1930 E. Grant Road, for an Instrument Petting Zoo.

On Saturday, December 14, from noon to 2 p.m., the Civic Orchestra of Tucson offers kids free rein to examine musical instruments--under their supervision and encouragement, of course. The kids even get a chance make some noise, er, music.

It's free. Call 325-5767 with questions.

A LOVE LETTER TO THEATER. Playwright Jane Martin is at it again with Anton in Show Business. It's a love letter of sorts to contemporary American theater. An all-female cast plays multiple roles in a wicked comedy about three disparate actresses rehearsing for Chekhov's The Three Sisters.

What's wrong or right with today's theater? Come find out on Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14, at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. at Catalina Foothills High School's Little Theater, 4300 E. Sunrise Drive. Tickets cost $5 general and $3 for seniors, children and students.

Call 577-5090 for details.
