Cheap Thrills

MILLIONS OF PEACHES. Things will be a bit fuzzy this weekend at Rincon Valley Farmer's Market.

One thing is clear, however; the summer peach festival is being held for a good cause. Get your fill of peaches, peach pie and ice cream while helping out the business community of Mount Lemmon. Free hot dogs and sodas will be doled out to firefighters in uniform.

The market, housed in a 50-year-old barn, features a variety of fresh produce, breads and tortillas and flowers.

The peach festival on Saturday also will have pony rides for the kids from 10 a.m. to noon.

Market hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, year-round. The market is located at 12500 Old Spanish Trail, southeast of Escalante. For more information, call 591-2276 or email farmersmarket@aol.com.

PAINTING FOR PETS. Tucson critters may get a boost from human creative types.

Bear's Path Gallery, an "emerging artists" gallery, is hosting a reception Saturday for an exhibition called My Pet, which will benefit the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

The show features oil paintings of animals by Patricia Murray and the "You Can Paint" artists. Bear's Path is a teaching studio as well as a gallery, so it's a great place to look for the work of an undiscovered genious.

The artist's reception is 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 8806 E. Tanque Verde Road. The show runs through Sept. 6. Summer hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday; 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday; and 9 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. For more information, call 760-1416.

SPOTLIGHT ON KIDS. Turn off the tube and take the gang to a real show.

The Bianco Children's Theatre presents its summer production of a mystery-comedy based on the children's game of Clue.

Murder, He Wrote is a fun-filled musical who-done-it for the whole family.

The performance begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaslight Theatre. Tickets are $8 adults, $7 seniors and kids. For more information, call 886-0860.
