KILLER DEAL. The Cinema La Placita film series' June lineup concludes with a classic killer thriller.

Dial M for Murder, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring Grace Kelly and Ray Milland starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on the large outdoor screen in the plaza at La Placita Village, downtown.

There is no admission charge for the showings but $3 contributions are encouraged. The entrance to La Placita Village is at 110 S. Church St., near the corner of Broadway. The Israeli Scouts Friendship Caravan is coming to the Tucson Jewish Community Center on Thursday. The highly acclaimed group of 10 talented Israeli scouts and two adult leaders will present a program of uplifting song and dance performance in Hebrew and English.

The caravan travels throughout America and perform at festivals, schools, hospitals and other Jewish centers.

HAVE A CHUCKLE. Get out and fight -- for your right -- to laugh.

The American Freedom Comedy Jam promises an "evening of comedy, music and fun celebrating your American right to laugh."

The event should be a showcase for some of Tucson's funniest people, featuring some of Tucson's best rising-comics, with live musical support and a celebrity emcee.

The event starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at the MUSE Theater at 516 N. Fifth Ave. (the old Lohse YMCA) on the corner of Sixth Street. Tickets are just $4 at the door. This is a non-smoking, non-alcoholic facility, but refreshments will be available. For more information, call 296-3788.

FILM FOR FREE. Liam is a 2002 film that takes place in Liverpool, England, during the Depression of the 1930s.

Seven-year-old Liam finds his world turned upside down while he is preparing for his first communion in the Roman Catholic parish.

Find yourself watching the movie, directed by Stephen Frears, for free tonight at Saint Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church.

The film is part of the Tacheria Interfaith Spirituality Center's 10th annual series. Snacks will be served during the free screening and a discussion about the film and its message will follow. Liam starts at 7 p.m. in the East Murphey Gallery on the St. Philip's campus at Campbell and River.
