It's hard to believe anyone with the Southern Arizona Roadrunners could have envisioned that a Monday evening walk/run/jog around downtown would be this successful. And who came up with that dorky name? Yet MMM is a certified hit, drawing hundreds (including kids and dogs) for a 2- or 4-mile walk or jog around downtown. The event begins and ends at Maynards Market and Kitchen; registration is between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Following the self-paced run, participants gather for outdoor music, camaraderie, drinks and the raffle, which is at 7 p.m. If you think the notion of an urban hike is an oxymoron, go, and you'll learn that downtown is just quiet enough after 5 p.m. to let you appreciate Tucson as the small town that so many still want it to be.
