Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

READERS' PICK: "All day I faced the barren waste / without a drop of water": If the thousands of animal denizens of Tucson's internationally renowned Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum joined up to choose a theme song, "Cool Water" might well be it. After all, a desert is, in the words of desert rat and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Book of Answers guru David Lazaroff, "a place where lack of water is severely limiting to living things most of the time." Tucsonans, to say nothing of millions of visitors over last half century, have learned about those living creatures and how they cope without air conditioning on the grounds of this extraordinary living museum, which gets better every year.
