Casbah Tea House

READER'S PICK: Rock the Casbah? Definitely. The Casbah Tea House offers two environments in which to relax and enjoy fine tea. The café/bakery fronting Fourth Avenue has traditional tables and chairs. The patio in the back offers an even more traditional environment, a tent with plush cushions and carpets. Sail away, dream on, relax and enjoy a drink that's equal parts mysterious Orient, British national tradition and Revolutionary War symbol. Sharif would like this.

B-SIDE: Arizona Inn, 2200 E. Elm St. Tea for two, and two for tea--if elegance is your cup of tea, the Arizona Inn offers it. Between 3:30 and 5 p.m. daily between Thanksgiving and mid-April, high tea is held in the library, a beautiful and cozy room. Although the tea is held primarily for hotel guests, the inn accepts a limited number of outsiders with the fine taste and social graces to call a week in advance to make a reservation. The fine china polished silver, delicate pastries, finger sandwiches and intimate but refined atmosphere fulfills and surpasses every real or fantasized girlhood tea party. We still haven't been able to get the crook out of our pinkie fingers, or overcome the urge to wear fancy hats and discuss Victorian literature over a steaming cup of Earl Grey. Two for tea--can't you see how happy we would be?
