In the desert, survival is the only sport, and unless you're Bear Grylls of TV's Man Vs. Wild--who seems to enjoy drinking his own piss and eating spiders for breakfast--you're going to need at least a water bottle and comfy socks before you head out to test your mettle in the blasted wastes. Luckily, you can find everything you need at the Summit Hut, which has been outfitting Tucsonans for their outback adventures these last 40 years. They've got it all: backpacks, bedrolls, trail guides, maps, etc. They even have some very fashionable trail wear, 'cause you want to look your best when the cute ranger comes to your rescue, right?
