Since 1984, Mesquite Valley Growers has been serving the Tucson area. The greatest thing about their plants is that they don't inexplicably die. This may seem like no big deal to some readers, but to us Sunday gardeners, it is huge. You can keep your Wal-Mart and Home Depot shrubs and serve 'em up to other suckers. Foliage from Mesquite Valley, due to the obvious care in planting, cultivating and tending, has the unique tendency, heretofore unheard of to some of us, to thrive. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful with questions no matter how dumb--always an enormous relief. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily.
