Best Place to Get Culturally Enriched While Shopping for Fish

17th Street Market

Staff Pick

This family-owned shopping bazaar would be dripping with mom-and-pom-ism were it not such a culturally diverse retail experience. Aside from all of the regular grocery stuff, 17th Street offers numerous items from throughout Asia, including kimonos and robes, glass bowls and sake sets. The adjacent music store offers additional opportunities to raise your cultural IQ with free guitar lessons, banjo workshops and drum jams. An impressive display of stringed and percussion instruments joins a great selection of local and world music. If you can't afford a vacation, head for 17th Street for a little multiculturalism instead.
