Charlie's is on Dodge, just north of Fort Lowell Road, and if you didn't know it was there, we'll forgive you, because you can't see it from any major road that we all normally drive down. But it's there, just south of the good ol' Rillito, and it's worth stopping by just for the atmosphere alone, not to mention the drinks to be drunk. Think Southwest cafe-meets-Western dive bar, with food, a wide selection of beers and friendly waitresses and bartenders. The bar is separated from the restaurant with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, so the kiddies can watch the drinkers like they're in a curious aquarium, and the drinkers can watch the kiddies like they're in a zoo habitat. It all makes for interesting conversation--and a good education.
