Best Mischief Maker

John Kromko

Once portrayed as a political clown for not being able to get anything done, Kromko's list of accomplishments since is extremely impressive, much more so than most politicians. His involvement with transportation issues over the years shows that he and the voters think alike. Three times, he has successfully led the opposition to raising the sales tax to pay for boondoggle road projects. He also helped defeat the Speedway Boulevard tunnel and spearheaded the effort to adopt the "Neighborhood Protection Amendment," a law which has been a thorn in the side of the "pave-everything" lobby for years. Kromko is also active in social justice and anti-war issues, along with being kind to cats. Taken together, the mischief he has played has made Tucson a better community.
