Ah, fat, calories and dairy all wrapped up in one delicious, illicit treat! Although longtime Tucson landmark Austin's relocated to a former Souper Salad location several miles east of the original over the summer (and, if it must be said, service has suffered a bit in the tumult), this sandwich and soda shop still whips up a killer three-scoop milkshake ($3.50) in any of the 20-plus flavors of homemade ice cream available. A staff favorite: the root beer shake. After a long hot summer day of looting and pillaging, few privateers can deny the appeal of that thick concoction served in a tall parfait glass with the extra shake--almost a whole other serving!--still chillin' in the original steel can, beaded with condensation.
