The year has been good so far for transgendered folk singer-songstress Namoli Brennet: Her 2007 album Singer Shine Your Light is continuing to pick up momentum; she won the Tucson Folk Festival's songwriting competition; and now, she can add the title of 2008 Best Local Performing Artist to her already impressive list of accomplishments. Brennet's heartfelt music is all the more powerful performed live: She plays her guitar effortlessly, and each and every emotion that inspired a song sounds as honest and fresh as they probably felt the day the song was born.
