Has the bigotry in Arizona got you down? Take heart in the fact that Tucson Weekly readers have named local nonprofit Wingspan as the best activist/advocacy group for seven years in a row—concrete proof that Tucson isn't a narrow-minded, intolerant city (despite anti-gay-marriage laws and other things coming out of the state Legislature). In action for the LGBT community since 1984—and despite economic woes—Wingspan's community outreach and public-service programs are still uniting gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight people in the good fight against discrimination and its deleterious effects.
