With another bigoted proposition on the fall ballot aiming to amend the state Constitution to proclaim that marriage can only be between a man and woman, it's a great feeling to know that Wingspan is around. Celebrating its 20th year, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community center is in no way slowing down. With a new executive director on board, Wingspan is poised to continue its vital work in the Old Pueblo, whether it's offering help and assistance to LGBT youth in need or conducting anti-violence programs. A slew of outreach and community-based services fight discrimination and homophobia from rearing their ugly heads. Two decades in, Wingspan is still fighting to make Tucson a better place to live--for everybody.
