Zona 78 could undoubtedly do well in the Near Foothills (a neighborhood name we just made up) on Tanque Verde by selling their basic menu: salads, pastas, pizzas and some other smart uses of their wood oven. However (and thankfully), Zona takes it a step further, using local ingredients when possible, throwing one-off pop-up dinners and, in general, acting as valuable members of the Tucson food community. The eastside is getting better all the time on the restaurant front, but Zona 78 will likely be near the top of this list for years to come.
