Best Climbing Tree

The Mesquite At Estevan Park

Southwest corner of Main Avenue and Speedway Boulevard

STAFF PICK: This venerable tree has been here longer that the city around it, and it offers something for everyone. Beginners will enjoy the big, low horizontal branches that are strong enough to welcome a group of picnicking friends. More advanced climbers will be satisfied by several routes up into the high branches of invisibility. Even the chicken-hearted will enjoy the dense shade at the base of the trunk. Bonus: Don't miss the swing set not far away. It has a good-enough clearance that adults can swing high without dragging their feet, so go ahead, have a little fun, get a little nauseated.
