Alley Cat Scavenger Hunt to benefit El Grupo Youth Cycling
2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Sixth Street and Sixth Avenue
El Grupo Youth Cycling (elgrupocycling.org) is a kids' club for ages 12 to 20 that promotes fitness, fun and camaraderie. Their annual Alley Cat Scavenger Hunt is the most fun you can have on two wheels. It's an easy mystery tour/treasure hunt on bikes for all ages and fitness levels. Teams solve clues to determine the route, and at each stop, they gather a scavenger-hunt item. The first team back to the starting place with all the items wins, but WAIT! Don't rush! Whoever dawdles, dillydallies and delays—and makes a leisurely fun afternoon of it with their family or friends—wins even bigger. The joy is in the journey. A small donation gets you a T-shirt, snacks and a huge grin on your face.
