Located at the nexus of hippie Fourth Avenue and hipster Congress Street, the Shanty is best known for a wide selection of imported beers. It also features four well-lit pool tables; bottomless free-popcorn baskets; and an ample, bowered and conversation-friendly patio with a comfortingly babbling tiered fountain. You'd never guess the place was home to progressive plotters Drinking Liberally and the nascent Save Our State (Baja Arizona) movement—unless you happened to see the "Gabrielle Giffords for Senate" sign on the way in, or, on the bar in front of the door, a water jug collecting change for No More Deaths.
