B-sides: Sleep Like Trees

SHUT UP AND PLAY

Guitar-and-drums duo Sleep Like Trees are bringing their special brand of shoegazey instrumental jamming to Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.). Sometimes frenetic and jazzy, others chill and ambient, the local act keeps it interesting with dreamy guitar that echoes like you're lost in a desert canyon, while drummer Mike Fay (Prom Body) offers up percussive embellishments. It's kind of like if Pinback took some Adderall and got rid of all of those terribly distracting vocals and synth. Sleep Like Trees will also be joined by two other local instrumental acts: Macaulay Vulcan and Brass Tax.

You can enjoy a night of vox-free (and also free in price) tunes on Wednesday, Jan. 6. Doors open at 8 p.m. and it's a 21 and over event.
