B-Sides: Rareluth

RARE BIRD

There's something special about the music that comes through from Louisiana. From classic parade-worthy zydeco and jazz to swamp pop and bounce, the state has one of the most distinct musical viewpoints in the country—plus things tend to get a little weird and a lot funky. Well, one such fun and strange act is coming to town by way of Lafayette on Saturday, Feb. 13. Rareluth pegs itself as a fantasy pop act and, fronted by Christine Pierce, the live show has a penchant for costumes, dance numbers and all manner of eccentricities.

Rareluth will be in good company with Phoenix's Fairy Bones and Tucson's The GayBoys opening the show, which kicks off at 9 p.m. It all takes place at Sky Bar (536 N. Fourth Ave.) and the show is free.
