B-Sides: Methra

It's been just about two years since Tucson's seen new music from the sludgey hands of doom duo Methra. Made up of Nick Genitals (guitar) and Andy Kratzenberg (drums), the band seems to have one mission only: make some heavy as hell tunes and unleash them during the face-melting barren wasteland that is Tucson summer. After all, what's more brutal than that?

Well, you can catch the release show for Methra's Acolyte EP (Battleground Records) at 191 Toole (191 E. Toole Ave.) on Friday, July 9. The local act will be joined by Austin's Destroyer of Light, Imbalanced (from San Diego) and Chronovorous (a self-proclaimed "Lovecraftian Blackened Doom Metal" band from Tucson) with doors at 8 p.m. The Wooden Tooth Records hosted event is all ages. Admission is $5, which can be purchased in advance via the Rialto Theatre website at rialtotheatre.com.
