B-Sides: Dutch Holly

Desert Mountain Folk

Dutch Holly is coming down from Prescott to play at La Cocina (201 N. Court Ave.) on Thursday, June 18 and, if you caught their T-Town Sessions performance online, you'll know that you won't want to miss the folksy indie pop duo. Jen Juniper and Tres Ikner craft tunes that fit somewhere between Fleet Foxes and Jon Brion, adding sultry electronic flourishes to the bones of a harmonized vocal duet—their website pins it as "psychadellic indie folktronica," if you're the type who's into sub-genre classification. Their most recent single release, "Funny Girl," is a lush, full-bodied musical experience with quirky lyrics.

Joined by Tucson's Courtney Robbins, The Rifle and Pipelights, the show will kick off at 10 p.m. with music playing until the bar closes at 2 a.m. Since the four-band La Cocina performance is free, that gives you little excuse to miss the show so start your weekend off early with a beer, a taco and Dutch Holly live.
