B-Sides: Childbirth

GOOFY GRRRLS

b-sides_childbirth.jpg

The opening track to Childbirth's 2015 release Women's Rights is 39 seconds of chanting the words 'childbirth' and 'women's rights' over and over again. By the end of it, it's not clear if the band is poking fun at the Riot Grrrl movemet of the early '90s or feminism in general. By the second track, "Nasty Grrls," it's pretty clear that Childbirth doesn't intend for their silly songs to be taken all that seriously. With band comprising of members of Chastity Belt, Tacocat and Pony Time, the sarcasm-laden, conceptual commentary is to be expected.

Joined by Katterwaul and Lisa Prank, Childbirth will perform at Club Congress on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets for the show are $5. To buy yours in advance or find out more about this and other upcoming Club Congress concerts visit www.hotelcongress.com. It is a 16 and over event.
