May I ask when's the last time you took a drive south of the border to Hermosillo?

Last time I was there, I discovered a booming city. Mostly due to the $2-billion Ford Motor plant, there, that builds the highly rated Ford Fusion.

Like it or not, Fred, it seems to me that what we're really trying to figure out, here, is the global economy.

(Unlike my neighbor, the owner of a new Mexican-made Fusion who was really pissed off when he when he learned that my car is a Honda, which was built entirely in Alabama, USA.)

Yep, Fred, we are really living in a global economy, aren't we?

Seems so to me, when on this very morning during a valley walk with my dog, I counted 85 boxcars heading north on the Union Pacific RR tracks heading north.

Each boxcar containing 18 Mexican-built Ford Fusions for a total of 1,512 Fusions.

From my point of view, Fred, the more Mexico benefits from the Global Economy, the less likely it is that I'll be rescuing a migrant from freezing to death here in Rio Rico.

My evidence is purely anecdotal, but as one that frequently drives into Mexico, I can tell you I've been meeting more and more of my Mexican friends there, that have been taking fewer and fewer legal trips up to Tucson and beyond to shop.

Because, they tell me, they have been feeling less and less welcomed.
