      <![CDATA[Yeah, adding more lanes for vehicular traffic will add more congestion and pollution. So, let's just add the extra lanes for the modern streetcar, buses and bikes.

      <![CDATA[Widening streets has been proven to do nothing more than recreate congestion on those very same streets, as soon as drivers are aware that there's (momentarily) an extra lane. Then they all head for the widened road, instantly turning it into a traffic jam.

      <![CDATA[150 feet is too short. 200 feet is just about right and that should be enough to add a bike route, bus route, 6 lanes and a lane reserved for the street car.

      <![CDATA[The least needed 12 feet of the 150 feet are the bike lanes. A widened Broadway would probably have a 40-45 mph speed limit; no sensible place for bike riders, even with helmets.
