Since when has a city or its citizens been obligated to support any form of entertainment? It is up to the teams and the venues to attract the fans and their loyalty. They are not "owed" anything, much less that they extort subsidies more and more. Did they expect subsidies and money-making attendance when Casa Grande was a spring training site? Did they complain so much about the travel time and conditions when Yuma was included? Times and expectations have changed, Tucson has been abandoned for places with (for now) more money and enthusiasm, and life goes on. If I were to be uncharitable about El Paso (and I will be here), what other sports teams do they have to cheer for? The traditionally hapless UTEP Miners?
