Re: “TUSD Teacher Dustin Williams is Well on His Way to Make the Ballot for Pima County Superintendent of Schools

Who is this guy?
How long has he been in the classroom and really fought hard in the trenches for public education?
I know Michael Gordy has fought for decades. If you want my vote, you must have had paid some serious dues...both on the picket line and in the classroom.

Re: “Bus Strike Day 22: Teamsters Reject Latest Sun Tran Proposal, Wonder When City Will Intervene

The Democrats at the city level are showing their true colors; a party of big business just like the Republicans. What really pisses me off as a rank and file member of the AFL-CIO is witnessing for decades how we in organized labor bust our asses to get these Democrats elected only to see them refuse to support us when the shit hits the fan, such as this strike. We need an Independent Labor /Working people's Party and Independent candidates that will really fight in the halls of government for the workers and people of Tucson. Shame on Mayor Rothschild and the Tucson City Council for washing their hands of this historic strike courageously led by our brothers and sisters of the Teamsters Union!

Re: “Barrio Hollywood: If You Don't Live in the Barrio, You're Not Allowed to Vote in Our Neighborhood Association

God forbid that west side residents exercise their First Ammendent right to criticize A FEW businesses.
Dear "Reality," stop being a hypocrite, grow a backbone and tell the world who you are! Do businesses walk on water? Wouldn't any smart business owner want to hear from his/her customer base and "target-market?" People-human beings-are the most important capital. What is wrong with the democratic concept of "one person, one vote," and allowing residents of a particular neighborhood to vote en masse to determine their own destiny? Barrio Hollywood Neighborhood Association belongs to its residents.
Business owners in Barrio Hollywood should organize their own Merchant's Alliance.

Re: “Zona Politics: Cheryl Cage and Bill Beard

Why aren't there more "Independent" voices ( not Dem. not Rep.,) on this show? There are thousands of registered Independents in AZ. These two mouthpieces don't really reflect the depth, complexity and range of politics in Tucson and southern AZ. Time to stop the apathy rooted in the blah, blah, of the power structure. Jim, show some political guts. Maybe with some genuine independent grass-roots voices and views, people will actually start watching!

Re: “Congressman Grijalva Sends Another Letter to DHS: Stop Detaining Immigrant Mothers, Children

Good statement. We need to think of families and children. Politics needs to be put aside, so that we can fulfill our nation's' mission and promise.

Re: “Danehy

Pancho Villa is an icon of the Mexican Revolution. Yes, he definitely was a man of his times and a man of contradictions. While I do not condone the killing of innocent people of Columbus, NM, I strongly support our statue and Pancho's struggle for the poor of Mexico, and for Mexico's national sovereignty. One must also look at the role of President Wilson (who provided and withheld arms) during the Mexican Revolution and how it resulted in the deaths of many Mexicans. Any comprehensive study of all that Doroteo Arango did and fought for would logically result in support of and for, our statue. George Washington was a slave-owner general. Thomas Jefferson also owned slaves. If anyone thinks slavery was "cool," please watch the film "12 years as a Slave." Should we go to Washington D.C. and tear down monuments to George and Thomas?
