Thank you , Tucson Weekly for the attention you give to local music. Thanks to Tucson for voting for all of your favorite bands. Of course, one artical per year is not enough space for all of the town's local music news, and everybody wants their own project to get ink. Your good reporters reviewed a lot of the year's big events, but from reading the artical, someone might not realize that Tucson has a happening reggae scene and an original (not just covers) reggae band. Planet Jam performed 54 concerts in 2011, 47 of which were in Tucson, including shows that you reviewed as well as at the Fox and Rialto Theaters and many benefits for good causes. We thank Tucson that we were voted again as one of town's favorite reggae bands and strive to continue to earn that accolade. In March 2012, after 12 years of shows together, we mourned the loss of our percussionist, Cecil Carter, our favorite conguero who called Tucson his home for many winters. In May, we released a full-length CD of Bob Marley tunes translated into Romanian language (Canteci de un Suflet Rebel) and dubs and toured Romania and Oregon to support it. We are getting ready to perform at the Hut's Dubfest tomorrow night as well as a benefit for wild Mustangs on Oct. 4th at People's Imports Rug gallery. Hope to see you all there.
