No problem, Colt - I sent my ballot in marked for Ron Barber the day after I received it. (But it went to the Cochise County Recorder) Jesse Kelly is so wrong for southern Arizona is so many ways.
Well thought out and well stated endorsement. Ron Barber is an exceptionally good person to fill the remainder if Gabby's term, Jesse Kelly is an exceptionally wrong person to represent us in Congress. Let him go back to Texas and work for papa, his brand of crazy sells much better there.
That 93% name recognition for Kelly is hard to believe, I doubt if Obama or John McCain have 93% name recognition in the district.
The interesting thing about the GOP special election CD8 primary is that many of the supporters of each of the 4 candidates will be passionate about their candidate. Will the supporters of the other 3 candidates rally behind the winner of the primary and vote for him or her in the special CD general election over Barber? That election is only for the remaining 6 months of Gabby's term, and would give that candidate the leg up in the primary for CD2 just 2 months away in August over their preferred candidate. Or would they be more likely to not vote in the CD8 general election or vote Libertarian or even for Barber, in hopes their preferred candidate can come from behind and win the CD2 primary and the chance to win a full 2 year term?
I think Jim made a little typo:
"which means the Republican voter registration in CD8 has essentially been eliminated in the new district."
-- One can only wish Republican registration has been eliminated. I think he left out the word "edge".
