Pssst ~ there is another choice! If you are fed up with the 2-party system that is rife with incivility and chicanery, check out the under-reported Green Party. We had 2 doctors on our primary ballot and both visited Tucson March 10 to share their platforms. Though media were notified, nobody bothered to cover it. Green Party candidates do not accept corporate campaign contributions, so if you want money out of politics consider voting for the greater good rather than the lesser evil this time around.
And once again Jim Nintzel completely ignores the presence of the Green Party. We had 2 doctors on the Green Party presidential preference ballot. Smart, healthy, responsible, and nice individuals who do not tear each other apart. And Green candidates do not accept any corporate campaign contributions. Check out the New Green Deal - cut military spending by half and divert those funds into building up our crumbling infrastructure and developing more green energy options to wean us from fossil fuels. Got burned with Bernie? Come chill with Jill!
Jim Nintzel forgets the Green Party once again ~ but Green Party presidential contenders Dr. Jill Stein & Kent Mesplay, care enough about Tucson to visit & share their platforms personally. Meet Mr. Mesplay on Thursday, 3/10/16, 2-4pm, in the 1st floor meeting room of Joel Valdez Library; meet Dr. Jill Stein on Thursday, 3/10/16, 6-8 pm, in the Historic Y Courtyard. For those of you who are sick of big money influencing elections, did you know that Green Party candidates do not accept corporate contributions?
Bus drivers get paid a lot less than our police officers and our fire fighters; and the bus drivers have to deal with many of the same people the police & fire departments encounter in their jobs. We need more living wage jobs, and the bus drivers are not overpaid for the level of responsibility they assume on our behalf. Everyone should have access to employment that provides a quality standard of life. Pulling others down is not the way to lift this City out of poverty.
...and the Christian Science Monitor reports July, 2015 is the hottest month on record....
Oh, No! It's Hot Out Here!
Too Much Carbon In the Atmosphere!
Hmmm, it's so lucky we don't have to worry about hurricanes now; it frees up our mental energy to worry about those wildfires instead. As the economic costs of intensifying weather systems mount, so will acknowledgement that anthropomorphic induced climate destabilization is real. It's just "inconvenient" to admit it and to have to do anything about it. History will sort it all out for us, if any of your descendants can live on the Eaarth they'll inherit (yeah, spelled wrong on purpose - Bill McKibbon's book tells why).
Dan, since the industrial revolution humans have released untold amounts of carbon in the atmosphere. Who knew it would come back to bite us in the behind? But our ice caps are melting, sea levels are rising, weather systems are intensifying. What would happen if you sat in a closed garage with the car running? Our earth is enveloped by a layer of breathable air; carbon emissions mess with a closed ecosystem - yeah, it is a BIG system, but there is no Planet B after we trash this one. Let's work together to find better alternatives....if it isn't already too late to save our species!
