Re: “Media Watch

RJ: The problem for Scott is that he has already burned through virtually every station in town with a format compatible enough to air his show: (formerly) KTUC, (now Spanish ESPN)KTKT, KVOI, and of course, The Joke. No way will it be on a station owned by CC, Journal or Citadel. I guess there's always KJLL's cellar dweller partner KGVY.

You mentioned Jon Justice. His audience alone exceeds the whole KJLL broadcast day, Scott included. Even Mancow's Tucson audience surpassed Scott's. Don't get me wrong: The Spreis (Aldona included) were truly horrid owners who tried to welch on every commitment they made and deserve everything they are about to get. They also have some really nasty Chicago lawyers who will strongly contest every lawsuit sent their way. That ain't gonna be an easy row to hoe for Scott, Randall and Cox.

Re: “Media Watch

Hey, CMac: There's no station left in town that is quite that stupid.

Re: “Media Watch

I've got news for all of you...those who loved the station and those who despised it. The fact is that it NEVER had a chance of succeeding for a number of really critical reasons including:

1) awful signal
2) bad ownership
3) antique equipment
4) lack of capital to improve ANYTHING

Whoever it was that mentioned that the land the towers occupy if far more valuable than a broken down radio station with bottom-of-the-heap ratings. If you're the owner, it makes a lot more sense to shut it down, sell the signal to some dimwitted sucker and then sell the land the transmitter and towers occupy.

The station has had a number of talented and caring managers in the more distant past whose efforts were frustrated at every turn by Aldona who preferred advice from her ouija board over that coming from experienced broadcasters. It was never a question of whether the station would ultimately fail.; The question was when. Even cats only have nine lives
