Re: “Smashing the Stigma

Blah, blah, blah. Why is it that people in the marijuana business (dispensary license) have to go to great lengths to explain why they are in the biz. Cannabis is benign, legal and does not ever cause any deaths by overdose. Get over it Tucson Weekly and stop with the endless stories about the pot stores being Mother Teresa in dispensing weed at a very high price. If patients could grow their own again (it's coming people) the cost of cannabis (now at 15-30 bucks per gram at the State licensed drug cartels) will go down to $3.00 a gram and that will be a good thing.

Re: “Oro Valley Values

Please these folks are living in another universe. Claiming to have the safest dispensary in the state... they are all safe. Not one dispensary has been jacked since they have opened. As for the "black market" these folks are delusional and charge $20 a gram for mid-level quality they are paying $10 a gram for which is the black market. They lucked out got a dispensary license and sling it like Mexican drug lords. It's Oro Valley where the biggest crime is stealing Metamucil from Walgreens... get over yourselves!

Re: “Planning Progress

Funny how there is over 50,000 patients with valid AZ MMJ cards that cost $150 to the AZDHS. There are only 8 dispensaries in Tucson that maybe have 100 total people working for them and the rules are being relaxed for the dispensaries? Where is the ability for the patients to grow their own medicine without having to pay exorbitant prices at these supposed "non-profit" medical marijuana dispensaries.

Please show some common sense City Council Members and lighten up and allow the patients to grow their 12 plants without the fear of TPD sending in the swat teams and attack helicopters on the patients. This is what the law was for to help patients not make the already wealthy dispensary owners even richer.

Re: “R.I.P., J.M.

We can only hope that Mr. Smith goes into the good night since his writing basically sucks....

Sorry Mr. Smith but maybe you should find a new calling and being the MMJ writer hasn't been a bad gig but it's not your thang! I want to read reviews of the dispensaries, what are the best strains to purchase and what the fuck is really happening with the MMJ scene in Tucson!

Re: “One Small Step for Treatment

Not one thing has changed because of this ruling. All the dispensaries in Tucson carry oils, medical edibles, kief, balms, suckers, popcorn. This is just Kabuki theatre for the amusement of the moronic masses out there that are uneducated about the hemp plant. As anyone that has read one book on the subject knows there is no such thing as medical marijuana as a botanical plant. It is Cannabis Sativa L. or basically the hemp plant domesticated to produce higher THC. Mr. Humble and the other idiot you talk about in this article (Bill Montgomery) are prohibitionists and if this was 1921 it would be alcohol they would be all hysterical about but of course it's the modern times and with our penchant for private prisons in this state, got to keep up the machine to throw people into the maw. Why don't you report the positive side of marijuana legalization (which is unknown to you for some reason in your columns) and talk about how Colorado is going to retroactively release 10,000 drug war prisoners very soon. You have not said one word about Tucson's most famous MMJ prisoner and that's Paula Huff. Surely you know the story but for some reason all I read is silence from the Tucson Weekly on this topic.

Re: “Slow Growth Tucson

Mr. Smith,

This is a very astute article but you fail to understand that until the patients and caregivers can grow the herb (which in fact Prop 203 is written for that very purpose), the program for MMJ is not going to get off the ground and be anything but the smalltime cabal it currently is, under the regime of the Republican cabal up there in Phoenix that has Will Humble's balls in their back pocket. Tucson has more than their fair share of dispensaries that are putting the ka-ching into the local economy and paying folks better than slave wages to work as the bud tenders. Change the rules and then the patients (there are 40,000 currently and only 700 dispensary agents) would make the local economy start buzzing with the green business of collectives, grow stores, cooking and growing classes. Having the dispensaries run a monopoly and growing thousands of pounds of herb is not going to fly since the numbers are flat lined because of the expensive fees, no grow rights and just the assholes up there at AZDHS that are doing everything in their power to chase the patients off including having a police confidential informant in charge of the day-to-day operations of the MMJ program. Don't believe me call TPD and ask them why their po-po over at Pima County Narcotics have Tina Wesoloskie (head of the MMJ program at AZDHS) on speed dial?

Re: “Weed Writing

Mr. Smith you continue to be the prohibitionists' best friend with your usage of their slang for cannabis -- pot and weed (and even marijuana). You are neck and neck with the major asswipe on this subject Howie Fischer of Arizona Capitol Times and stop being a flak for the dispensary industry. Call it cannabis or Mary Jane or the trees or the herb but "Pot" is the favorite word of the media when they are too goddamn lazy to use more than a 3 letter word. You have been the MMJ critic for an entire year and yet oddly you fail to cover the basic story in Tucson which is the police in direct contradiction of the intent of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act and their reign of terror in using undercover cops and informants at the AZDHS to arrest, harass and generally try and crib death the MMJ program. Get your stoner arse out of your "pot haze" and start doing some real journalistic writing or else let someone else have your job.
