Hooray for the O'Odham nation. The law is clear....they have the right to be compensated for land lost to flooding by federal dams. Their plan to build on land near Glendale's stadium and entertainment complex is shrewd. If the same plan were being pushed by some Snottsdale group of investors, it would be viewed as a display of business acumen. Neanderthal Congressman Trent Franks and Go-nowhere oppose it? That in itself is reason to like the idea.
The truth never gets in the way of Antenori's rants.
The conservatives scream no new taxes even as our roads crumble underneath us, caused mainly by the fact that the gas tax in Arizona is a pittance and Jan Brewer's private-prison buddies have skimmed vast portions of what tax revenue remains for their own purposes to the detriment of schools and roads. We want better roads? Then we have to pay for them. Ain't nobody else to do it but us. Waiting for the state to pay will have us all driving on gravel.
Cities that have EZ transport thrive and it becomes fun to go where the tracks go. It will be an engine for development downtown. Great news, despite the instinctive cynical response from many. Time will prove them wrong.
