Mari, I may not always agree with everything you write, but on this effort, you nailed it. Couldn't agree more.
Hey...at least they still have a paycheck (right?) Talk to some radio people that got downsized out of a gig and now traffic reports for Tucson originate out of PHOENIX.....
Correction: Wagner WAS NOT GM in 2009 during the mass firing...she had already left a couple of months earlier.
Sorry, no sympathy for the bike riders. To this day 39 years later I have the vision of my 10 year old friend in a casket after he was hit on his bike. If you ride your bike on ANY STREET expecting cars do what they are supposed to do at all times and you don't drive your bike defensively in case they do not, well, what good does it do to be right "legally" if you're maimed or dead?
This story makes me want to cry. Seriously. I suspect the writers over there are just as disgusted to write this tripe as we are to read it. No one wants to see anyone lose their job, but the sooner that hollow shell of a former great information source goes bankrupt, the sooner the next incarnation of our local newspaper of record will be able to manifest for eager readers.
You know what I've learned from this? To never, EVER use any "professional" photographer that doesn't give me sole and absolute ownership of any image of me or my family. Pros are going go out of business just like the music companies...wake up, it's the 21st century, new business model, DEAL WITH IT.
Another commenter makes a very, very good point. Most of the media and most elected officials were determined to NOT talk about the Ft. Hood shooter's Islamic bent, which was a documented fact, as a reason for the Ft. Hood massacre...but in this case no one has any hard proof about the Tucson man's religion or politics YET, but has already dubbed him the poster boy for all that is wrong with our society. Hello?? Way to be hypocritical.
