Neither Democrat, nor Republican, though I tried them both. I am an un-labelled American who happens to be greatly alarmed by Trump. I am very comfortable as part of the resistance I intend to keep it up until I am exhausted. It is not politics; rather, it is about lofty human (and humane) principles the very ones our founders used as the foundation of our Nation.
I am joining others in having a cry myself. Obviously, these two amazing people shared a very uncommon love -- such a force that immeasurably impacted on an infinite number of people. I didn't know them, nor did I know about Amy and Derrick until I viewed this post. Still, I can say that my soul is warmed and moved by their lives, their life story. Yet, I am also incredibly sad.
It seems that the GOP has been "jacked" by someone or something ... or ....? (would that be "party-jacked"? akin to "hijacked" and/or "carjacked", but not the same).
Tom Danehy has 'hit it n the nail had'! I am especially grateful for his simplifying analogy to describe how we arrived at our present situation regarding our military interventions abroad. I hope he'll consider explaining our immigration mess -- somehow justifying the passage of SB1070 as it serves to resolve the problem of decapitations in the desert, while 'deep-sixing' (discarding) the DREAM Act because it costs too much. I want clarity, Tom. Can you help?
There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.
After serving in the Navy for twenty years, and traveling the world-over a few times, I cannot help but say we are fortunate to live here in the USA. By no means is that an assertion that America is perfect or even near perfect. However, with any of our faults gathered and counted, we are still a nation worthy of the admiration we so often receive. One of our presidents quipped that there is nothing wrong with the US that cannot be righted by the ingenuity and talents of Americans (paraphrased). I believe that is true! Do your part to make a positive difference in the lives of the people in your community. Bit by bit, you will experience the nation Jimmy Carter referred to as being built upon the best human rights principles. The US is quite all right!
Jack - I have more to add. I need to get a root canal on my tooth #15 -- I would love to go to Jose's place of employment. I truly appreciate professionalism, and I would gladly add my tip to/for Jose as well. Is it easy to contact the Dentist & her office???
