I am a Democrat. 70 years old. A Dumbocrat according to some, I guess, who doesn't understand the true power of oil. But even I know that the oil and gas we drill is sold on the world markets and we don't get to keep it and use it here in the US, nor do you and I enjoy some kind of a bounty or royalty when the foreign multinationals drill our oil and send it to China, nor do they compensate us for the pollution-caused illnesses our people experience as a result of their activities. Our only hope of energy independence is in renewables and conservation, and that is the true power of freedom to me.
Would you please publish the new legislative district map? I am in the old LD 26...I live in Catalina, just South of SaddleBrooke but in Pima County....don't know the bounds of whatever LD I am now in. No I am not running for office...but I am a retired PC who will actively support good candidates who will.
The city wastes tax dollars fighting with peaceful occupiers that could go to, you know, actually fighting crime. I read an excellent article yesterday suggesting local authorities send social service workers instead of police to help occupiers around the country deal with the homeless and disenfranchised who come hoping for safety and a meal.
daddycrc, stimulus money was was badly needed and way too small. What we needed and still need was more like FDR's CCC. At least 14 million more people are looking for work than there are jobs for them. And there are too few jobs because companies don't have enough customers to warrant hiring more workers. It's a downward cycle.
The big banks cheated and lost, and millions of unemployed and foreclosed-upon Americans are paying the bill. Federal bailout money you meant,(not stimulus), went to the big banks around the world. We recently discovered it was actually around $8 Trillion we paid out, through the Fed.
Who doesn't understand that most of what we "drill" is exported, that oil markets are global ??????????????????
As to the economy and housing market Bush and his de-regulate everything robber-baron Republican buddies gleefully destroyed, that would be appropriate. As to the jobs sent overseas, that would be Globalization, the One-World Corporate vision. As to the responses to economic disaster and unemployment in Arizona (huge budget deficits, with corporate tax breaks while giving sick people a death sentence and turning down Federal assistance to keep them alive, no, that would be out heartless Governor Brewer.
Seems John McCain has violated campaign finance laws by his campaign paying for ads in CD 7 and CD 8. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1010/…
What about MY right to live in a peaceful, loving community? What about my desire to reduce reduce drive-by shootings that kill children on their own porch by de-facto arrests of people owning non hunting-related guns?
The second amendment calls for guns within a "well-regulated militia." Where is the right to take gun to a park and put the entire population at risk? Where is the right for private citizens to take guns to political rallies and intimidate anyone from participating?
To me it is bullying pure and simple. I get it. You are macho. You love to scare me. Hope you never get in the way of a drive-by shooting.
