Re: “Kate Clinton

Kate Clinton has proved for a long time that the things that make gays and lesbians and transgenders laugh and cry have a universal appeal...surprise. Her new show is a hit and benefits the local LGBT community, a great combo.

Re: “Cinema Clips: Eight Days a Week

A good review of their meteoric rise and touring life. And a touch of their studio-musician careers. But the genius part of the film is showing their very last public performance together on top of the building housing their recording studio. Their performance is unbelievably good and a testament to how skilled and talented they had become. And, back to the film, don't miss the footage of their Met Stadium performance--it follows all of the film credits as a kind of fun but unnecessary add-on.

Re: “Rep. Brenda Barton: Obama Is a Lot Like Hitler

Enough with the Hitler comparisons. Just work hard to insure this kind of legislator has the influence she deserves--none. Ad hominem arguments just make people mad. Effective opposition keeps them as unimportant as they deserve to be.

Re: “Councilman Steve Kozachik vs. Metro Chamber Prez Mike Varney

Mr. Varney's attack on the City Council reveals why the Tucson Metro Chamber is so irrelevant to the exciting things happening downtown. Typical nonsense from him, but it was fun to see him set-up straw dummies for Steve K. to demolish.

Re: “Show Us the Money: Fundraising in the Race To Replace Pima County Supervisor Ann Day

Nancy Young Wright has brought hard work and results to every elective office she has held. I urge folks from all political persuasions to consider electing a person who only cares about doing the best she can for her constituents.

Re: “A Note for Cathi Herrod and Her Attack on Anti-Bullying Laws

Herrod's agenda has always been hate, and her methods have always included bullying. That she would oppose efforts to stop bullying can hardly be a surprise.

Re: “Guest Commentary

Stephen and Sarah know this problem area well. The suggested strategies are known to work. Steve Cody's comment highlights one of several efforts to remedy the situation. Wingspan, SAAF, and SACASA also know the problems and try to help, and the Alliance Fund provides support to programs through the Queer Youth Initiative to try to spread solutions throughout Southern Arizona.
