Re: “Rialto Theatre”
OK, back for a follow up review. I saw Lucinda Williams last night at the Rialto, this time sitting in the balcony. The best thing I can say about it was the sound quality. It was superb. The problem is the Rialto was built in the 20's when apparently everyone was 5'-2" and 125 lbs. The seats are narrow and there is almost no leg room. This makes sitting through a concert seem like a stress position the CIA invented. If you plan on going to a concert there I would suggest snagging seats in the balcony in either the front row or the last row before the aisle. These allow you to stretch out your legs a bit. Otherwise, be prepared to suffer for your art.

Come on? No support for prop 200? How are they going to keep the constant police helicopter flyovers going? How can they continue to arrest licensed realtors showing homes? How are they going to be able to keep up their strip club steak outs? In short, how will they be able to continue their police state?

Wow. Nine comments by the same person. The literal version of doctoring a photograph to make it look like more people showed up at your rally than really did.
My question is: why does someone that so obviously believes the bible should be taken literally read Tucson Weekly? You know it's just going to make you upset when you read something that isn't written by a white-male-middle-class-middle-aged-vanilla-sex author?

Catherine, as a newcomer to Tucson (a mere yearling) I've seen all of the beauty you describe but none of the things lost. I know it's painful to see change to something you love and it's hard to tell from your article, but I hope your motivations for leaving are because of new opportunities and not because you've lost your old Tucson. Because the amazing beauty of Tucson is still here. Maybe it's just easier to see with these newcomer's eyes.

Tucson isn't a 'military town' or a 'basketball town'. It's a progressive college town. Instead of trying to diagnose serious mental health challenges from our military veterans on a radio talk show, Mooney should simply move on to a city that caters to the WWF and Glenn Beck crowd. I hear there is plenty of room in Alaska now.

I struggled between a rating of 2 or 3 stars. The Bruce Cockburn concert I attended was a mixed evening. The sound was good. The seating not so much. The seats are at such an angle that I had to keep my leg muscles tense to keep from sliding off the seat. This got real old, real fast. These seats were on the main floor. I have tickets to a future concert with seats in the balcony. I'll post a follow up review after that concert.
